The Sisterhood exists to restore the relational support many women have lost through trauma, addiction, homelessness, or instability. It reduces isolation and provides steady, dignified connection that helps women rebuild their lives with confidence and hope
The Sisterhood is a community-based mentorship network made up of trained, trauma-informed volunteers. These mentors commit to walking with one participant for an entire year, offering support through both challenges and moments of growth. Their presence helps participants stay grounded, focused, and encouraged.
Women navigating homelessness, recovery, trauma, poverty, grief, re-entry after incarceration, or mental-health challenges benefit from the steady presence and reliable support of a Sisterhood Mentor. The Sisterhood becomes a source of steadiness during unstable seasons of life.
Each participant is matched with a Sisterhood Mentor who provides biweekly in-person meetings, weekly check-ins, encouragement, goal-setting support, and compassionate accountability. Mentors help participants think through challenges, identify solutions, and celebrate their progress.
All mentors complete trauma-informed training covering communication skills, mental health awareness, addiction basics, domestic-violence safety considerations, confidentiality, documentation, and self-care. Ongoing support and guidance are available throughout the year to ensure mentors feel prepared and supported.
Women interested in serving as mentors complete an application, background checks, full mentor training, and sign a volunteer agreement. They commit to consistent mentorship for a year and uphold all safety, confidentiality, and boundary standards.
